You may see places offer Jeeps or VW convertibles for $10.00 a day in Los Cabos, but be warned, these require you to go to a timeshare presentation to get the cheap price.

Many of the large National chains of rental car agencies have offices in Los Cabos.

Most of the hotels offer a rental car service or have an agency in the hotel. Many times, you can reserve a rental car over the internet before you arrive, and pick it up at the airport, saving you taxi fares and the headaches of shopping for a good agency.

If you plan on driving in Mexico, it is important that you contact your insurance agent to see what they recommend, and if they cover any accidental damages in Mexico. It is also a good idea to charge your car rental on an established credit card as they may offer some insurance or extra coverage. Be sure to ask your credit card company what they offer.

Insurance is mandatory in Mexico, and you must purchase it with the rental.

You should also be aware that driving in Los Cabos, just as in any city can be dangerous, especially when turn lanes and turn signals are unfamiliar. Many drivers have their turn signal when they want to pass you, they want you to pass them, or they are going to turn. Your guess is as good as any!

Parking is difficult to find in most of the downtown areas. More and more people own cars in Mexico, leaving less space for parking in the populated areas. For some, it may be more economical and less stressful to take the bus or hire a taxi.

The major car-rental agencies all have counters at the airport, open during flight arrivals:
